Garland Jackson
January 21, 1947 – May 6, 2015
Garland Jackson, 68, of College Station, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Garland was born on January 21, 1947 to Aubery Hardy Benjamin “HB” Jackson and Dorothy Helen (Griffin) Jackson in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from high school in Grand Prairie, Texas. Garland spent his working life as a handyman and could fix most anything.
Garland was a Christian man with Christian values and enjoyed reading his Bible. One of the highlights of his day was his lunch delivery from Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed the lunch but really appreciated the relationships he built with the drivers. Garland loved tinkering and working on things. He enjoyed sorting through scrapyards looking for parts to bring to new life.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Joyce Barger and his parents, HB and Dorothy Jackson.
Garland leaves behind his children, Diana Phillips, Christel Gann, and Brian Jackson; siblings, Martha Williams, Jeff Jackson, Dan Jackson Sr., Charles Jackson, Vicky Happold, and Forester Jackson; grandchildren, Steven, Hannah, Winter, Robert, Sarah, and Laura; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many friends and neighbors, especially his best friend Randal McKensie.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Meals on Wheels (1500 University Drive East, College Station, Texas 77840 or www.bvcaa.org).
