Daniel Ramirez
July 15, 1928 – July 9, 2015
Daniel Ramirez, 86, of Bryan, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2015. A time for family to receive friends will be from 5-8 pm on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Hillier Funeral Home Bryan. A rosary will be recited at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church, 1212 Lucky Street in Bryan. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
Daniel was born on July 15, 1928 to Pedro Ramirez and Ramona Cardenas in Joyce, Texas.
Daniel was an active member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church. He loved the outdoors: fishing, landscaping, and playing golf. He enjoyed watching westerns, wrestling, and sports. His favorite teams were the Aggies, Rams, Dodgers and Lakers. Traveling was another favorite hobby of his. He loved family gatherings with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and sharing memories of his life.
Daniel served a total of 24 years of Active Duty in the US Army. He retired as a Sergeant First Class after serving in both Korea and Viet Nam. He was awarded numerous honors including the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and Army Commendation Medal.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tony Ramirez; 2 sisters, Ofelia Richards and Beatrice Zuniga; daughter-in law Alissa Ramirez.
Daniel leaves behind his loving wife Angela Sustaita of 62 years; 2 daughters; Juanita Medina (Joe), Mary Lockett (Rick); 2 sons; Jerry Ramirez (Evelyn), Michael Ramirez; 2 brothers Hector and Rene; sister Melda Esparza; 15 Grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
