Virginia Lovelace

Words used to describe and remember Virginia Lovelace: funny, caring, loving, giving and energetic. Virginia died in the tender care of her family at home in Bryan on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, she was 74.
Virginia Bird Lovelace was born August 14, 1941 in Port Arthur, Texas and was the daughter of Charles Gordon and Frances Bird (Hutchison) Collins. With a passion for learning she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and continued her education by taking business courses.
“’A good employee is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.” Virginia was a beloved and highly respected employee at Texas A&M University. She began her service with TEES Administration in 1974, and then moved to the Department of Mechanical Engineering where she was employed for the next 20 years as the Administrative Research Officer, retiring in 1999. Virginia had an incredible spirit and an unbelievable strength. Her love and concern for others was evident in all that she did.
She loved her family. Virginia retired and enjoyed her life with her husband Dale. She spent summers in Colorado with her mountain family were she enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, hiking and spending wonderful summer vacations with her family and friends.
“Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the world, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” Virginia was an accomplished piano player; she was gifted in the ability to play by ear. Late in her retirement she would spend time playing for groups of her senior community to brighten their day.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, brother Milford T. Collins and granddaughters; Kathryn Elizabeth Foster and Hannah Elizabeth Foster.
Mourning her loss but celebrating her life is her family: husband Dale Lovelace; sons and daughter in law: Kyle David and wife Amy Hamilton-Foster of Bryan, John Michael and Sandra Foster of San Antonio, and granddaughters Molly Caitlin Foster and Emma Grace Foster of Bryan. Dale’s children: Pamela Kay Lovelace of Caddo Mills, Jeffery Allen Lovelace of Richland, Autumn LeAnn Lucas and husband Tony Lucas of Farmersville; grandchildren: Jayne Mackenzie Thorsen, Chance Allen and Hunter Michael Lucas.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Virginia’s life on Sunday, October 4th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Hillier Funeral Home 2301 E. 29th St Bryan Texas 77802, and her life celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at First Baptist Church 3100 Cambridge Dr. Bryan Texas with Pastor Jim Adams Officiating, Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Ireland, Texas.
