Joyce Anne (Juarez) Thomas
Joyce Anne Thomas passed away unexpectedly in College Station on Monday, November 23, 2015, at age 59. She was loved by her family and many friends, and known for her quiet, gentle nature.
Born February 9, 1956, at Fort Riley, Kansas to Delfino Juarez and Mitsuko Osaki Juarez, Joyce grew up in Junction City, Kansas. There, she attended Junction City High School, graduated, then enrolled at Kansas State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Child Development.
Joyce met Dr. Casey Thomas and they married on June 11, 1982. The couple raised their daughter, Natalie (Thomas) Rasco (now of College Station, with husband Bryce Rasco), and worked as a team managing Flint Hills Veterinary Hospital for thirty-one years. In her local community, Joyce was a member of the Lady Troopers Regiment at Junction City, as well as the First Christian Church.
In the final eighteen months of her life, Joyce and Casey relocated to College Station to join their daughter’s family and help raise their grandchildren, Grayson and Aubree. Joyce’s family feels blessed, and is thankful for this time they had together. They remember her thoughtful, soft-spoken nature and her loyal friendship.
Joyce loved the Lord and her family finds peace in knowing that God greeted her and she is with her parents in heaven.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Casey Thomas, Daughter, Natalie (Thomas) Rasco, Son-in-Law Bryce Rasco, Grandchildren Grayson & Aubree Rasco, Sister June Clement, Nephew Jason Gromlovits and Niece Jessica Gromlovits.
Memorial Services for Joyce Thomas will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 11:00 am at Hillier Funeral Home (College Station Chapel), with Pastor Ronnie Roberts of Junction City, Kansas officiating.
