Clifford Louis Degner, age 50, of Caldwell passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2014. Cliff was born in Corsicana and grew up in College Station and Mertens. He graduated from High School in Frost.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Degner, father Robert Degner and wife Janet of Gainesville, FL, mother Nancy Huggins of Mertens, son Chad Degner and wife Christina and their daughters Taylor and Addyson Degner, of Malone, Cliff’s daughter Hailey Michelle Bartosh and husband John of Hewitt, brothers Clint Degner and wife Sarah of Rockwall, J.R. Surovik and wife Kendra of Mertens, Travis Degner of Miami, FL, and sister Kelly Degner Calvo and husband Camilo of Marietta, GA. Cliff is loved by many extended family members including Roy and Jina Surovik and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Louis W. and Francis S. Degner, of Malone, and H.A. Ballew and Carmel Toten Ballew of Mertens.
Over the past 14 years Cliff and Rosemary focused their love and efforts on their small cattle ranch near Caldwell. Early on, all the cows and calves had names but, in recent years, the herd grew too large for personalized names. Cliff and Rosemary continued to lavish their attention on their many pets, including horses, donkeys, a goat, cats and especially Cliff’s “girls”, four dogs. Cliff loved to call family members to update them on what was happening in his life with Rosemary and the ranch.
A memorial service is pending.
