Dr. Donald R. Clark
December 5, 1931 – August 14, 2014
Donald R. Clark, DVM, PhD, Professor Emeritus at Texas A&M, died on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Hospice Brazos Valley after a lengthy battle with the effects of a brain tumor. A time for family to receive friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th Street in Bryan. A Remembrance Celebration will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, also at the funeral home.
Don was born to William J. and Mildred (Foster) Clark in Fort Worth on December 5, 1931. He graduated from Quanah High School in 1949; enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, Don enrolled at Texas A&M University where he received a B.S. in Animal Science in 1958 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1960. He continued his education by receiving an M.S. from Baylor College of Medicine and his PhD from Ohio State in 1968.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Barbara Ladwig; sons, Galen Clark and Jeffrey Clark; daughter, Lou Anne Stephenson and husband, Richard; grandsons, Justin Clark, Jarad Clark and Christopher Pruitt; and great-grandchildren, Kayla Pruitt and Coleman Pruitt. He also leaves behind his sister, Wanda Meyer and husband, Louis; brother, Dr. Keith Clark and wife, Tammy; and step-children, Christa Hatch and Charles L. Ladwig IV.
