Marilyn Jean Shepherd February 14, 1934 – January 31, 2015 Marilyn Jean (Coleman) Shepherd went to be with her Lord on Saturday January 31, 2015, at the North Cypress Medical Center in Cypress, Texas, from post-surgical complications. Born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1934 in Graham, Kentucky, Mrs. Shepherd grew up in Hammond, Indiana. During her life she also resided in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Her favorite home was with her late husband, James B. Shepherd, Jr., in Bryan, Texas where they pursued mutual interests in their ranch, golf, a stable of race horses, art, and Texas A&M University alumni events. An artist, she pursued a lifelong passion that led her to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Sam Houston State University at age 65, and study art in Italy. She was a member of the Brazos Valley Art League. During the last several years Mrs. Shepherd travelled internationally extensively, including visits to China, Greece, Russia, Turkey, and Switzerland to name a few destinations. Mrs. Shepherd is survived by her children, son James C Cunningham Jr. and Christina Robillard of Rochester, New York; stepson James B Shepherd, III and Adrienne Shepherd of The Woodlands, Texas; stepdaughter Kathy (Shepherd) Reese and Randy Reese of Pflugerville, Texas; and daughter Kelly (Cunningham) Muehlemann and Marc Muehlemann of Cypress, Texas. A family centered person, Mrs. Shepherd was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Courtney Anderson, James Cunningham, III, Michael Cunningham, Jerod Freitag, Andrew Muehlemann, Connor Muehlemann, Jennifer (Reese) Walker, James Shepherd IV, Jerod Shepherd, John Shepherd, Candice (Cunningham) Thaller and Crystal (Shaw) Tingley. Also surviving Mrs. Shepherd are her great-grandchildren, Bella Cunningham, Owen Cunningham, and Colin Tingley. Two additional great-grandchildren are expected soon, Hope Tingley in April by Crystal Tingley and another in August by Candice Thaller. She was preceded in death by her great love and life-mate James B Shepherd Jr., her first husband James C Cunningham, her parents George and Jrean Coleman, brother Neal Coleman, and sister Elizabeth (Coleman) Haynes. A time for family to receive friends will be held on Friday, February 6, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM AM at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 East 29th Street in Bryan. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be Saturday, February 7, at 10:00, also at the funeral home, with internment immediately following at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Bryan, Texas. Mrs. Shepherd, always the artist, requested those in attendance wear bright, vibrant colors and please, no black.
